Duane & Aero,

There are obviously many paths to be considered.

Was it the JET Tokamak that went to net power ? IIRC.

Dr Nebel is liking the next step of net power, for now I'll trust him. Though there are advantages in building smaller designs over, say, 18 months.

Say Simons LN2 cooled convincer showed, 4-6 minute DD runs as well as PB-11 fusion. Thats a game changer.

Say a dodec with the same Magrid volume as WB-7 showed it was 3-5 times more efficient than WB-7. What would Art Carlson say..lol ?

Say a BFR at double the size of WB-7 showed scaling to be similar to what Dr Bussard thought. Say 112x the output. Thats a game changer too.

And yet if Dr Nebels builds the WB-100, and it goes to net power, even in pulse mode... that a game changer too.

And after all that, what gets built next ? A 3 meter Dodec LN2 cooled PB-11 net power device, proof of PB-11 scaling and net power, prior to Super conductors ? Or straight to super conductors ?

Aero, I believe it will work too, in my gut.
I like the p-B11 resonance peak at 50 KV acceleration. In2 years we'll know.

From wikipedia:
The largest current experiment is the Joint European Torus [JET]. In 1997, JET produced a peak of 16.1 MW of fusion power (65% of input power), with fusion power of over 10 MW sustained for over 0.5 sec. In June 2005, the construction of the experimental reactor ITER, designed to produce several times more fusion power than the power put into the plasma over many minutes, was announced.

Roger - One thing you said, ... "If Dr. Nebel builds ..." I do have faith in Dr. Nebel's abilities. If Dr. Nebel builds what he wants to build, then I'm behind him 100%. In that case I know as a minimum, it will be WB-100 and I suspect he is aware of my arguments by now. He does read this forum after all.

If Doc Nebel can go to the 100MW net power demonstrator in the next hop (we may have to canonize him; reminder - consult Herr Panzerpope), how fast to jump to an ~10GW unit, suitable for QED rockets?
