The first link doesn't work for me and because I recently had a similar problem I tried it 3 times. The second link is a WOW! link.
Is this a solicitation for aneutronic fusion approaches to be funded at JSC?
Paul March is the guy to clue us in here. Looks very exciting though. I'd guess the Poly has the leg up in such a competition, and the Dense Plasma Focus not far behind.

Would love to know how you read the blacked-out text....
At $.5M, I don't think it's going to be *very* exciting. Sounds more like some kind of feasibility review?
edit: maybe along lines of http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5095342/000000000001025636.pdf ?

The secret is that it's not actually blacked out *dun dun duhhhhhhhhhhh*dnavas wrote:Would love to know how you read the blacked-out text....

Select All, copy, paste into notepad, you have everything. Administrative types are absolutely terrible at using products like Adobe Acrobat properly, not to mention Acrobat is crap anyways.
If you read ScottL's post you will note that none of the companies mentioned are satisfactory. I suspect they will keep at it till there is one then sole source that one due to lack of viable competitors. Just a guess.GIThruster wrote:Any idea why this is non-competitive?
Oops, just re-read the .pdf and seems they DID the required market research and found none BUT the selected could do all parts. So within the meaning of competition, they did compete.
Don't have time to try it - is it not something simple like "select-all ; copy-paste to another text field" ?dnavas wrote:Would love to know how you read the blacked-out text....
You can do anything you want with laws except make Americans obey them. | What I want to do is to look up S. . . . I call him the Schadenfreudean Man.
You guys really do have too much time on your hands. This sole source acquisition is simply a continuation of a small, (A few part time PHD folks at most), study contract that allows the NASA/JSC engineering directorate to keep track of the ongoing R&D into the Hydrogen/Boron-11 aneutronic reactor subject to see if and when further internal studies should be started on this topic. I say "start" because there is currently no such internal aneutronic power generation studies going on here at JSC at the momenent. In other words this is just a due-dilegence border watching of a topic that could have great impact on the mission of JSC, if it were to ever reach a point where it might actually work.GIThruster wrote:The first link doesn't work for me and because I recently had a similar problem I tried it 3 times.
