Time for Media Control.
Time for Media Control.
Mass shootings require curtailing rights
"The time for action is now. The recent spate of mass shootings must finally spur us to do what must be done. We need press control. That's right, the media is out of control and they are enabling and certainly promoting the sick bastards who are slaughtering innocents. The Founders could not have envisioned a 24/7 news cycle with blaring soundtracks, garish headlines, and a relentless, almost pornographic sensationalism. There is no doubt the sad souls who plot these horrors can picture their faces beaming from screens around the world. They gain a notoriety they could never achieve otherwise and the ghouls who give them a stage must bear their responsibility."

I've been watching videos on ukcolumn.org dealing with the Levenson inquiry in England, how to control the press. You might want to look it up as a cautionary tale. They've also mentioned how they wish they had the right to bear arms over there, they have a real fear that a police state is being set up.
So out of this tragedy you have an attack on both press freedom and gun ownership, I'm probably just being paranoid, but watch out if it starts to fit a pattern.

Did you not click on the link? The man's point is that we should not be talking about controlling a fundamental right at all, but if the press insists on talking about controlling a fundamental right, perhaps we need to discuss putting the shoe on their foot. (i.e. controlling a fundamental right that is near and dear to them.)
The man is not serious about controlling the press, he is just trying to make people think about what they are proposing.

Thank you. I can't return the compliment.Diogenes wrote:Stubby wrote:No.

Tongue in cheek on your part or the website's?
You have previous stated you want to silence (control or as you say, nuke) the media:
The only thing is your cheek are the acorns you are hoarding for winter. From years of studying the problem, I am becoming more and more convinced that the Media needs to be nuked. The sane part of the nation needs to wage economic warfare against these people and put them out of business.
The Media's intentional manipulation of government power has long been a dire threat to our freedom. It is way past time for us to have fought back.
As for the website, seems pretty clear what ole Uncle Jimbo wants.

It wasn't a compliment. Again, you are slow.

Clear enough to everyone but you. The currently constituted media needs to be nuked until it glows. There is precious little that gets on the air which is not filtered through New York City Democrat Union members. This constituency has complete control over what gets into the homes of American citizens, and that is why the public is so badly misinformed.

Given your past performance, I'm not going to take your analysis seriously.

D,
The problem is that this sort of thing is being seriously suggested. And you do have a rep for being among the suggesters.
Bucky Fuller had this general attitude: you can't control humans but from time to time you can entice them. I think that is about right.

Engineering is the art of making what you want from what you can get at a profit.
Our nation has reached the point where tragedies like the shooting in Newtown have become our favorite blood sport. We wallow in the tragedy and senselessness of it. Our politicians relish the drama and exploitability of each new tragedy. It simultaneously entertains us and is used to strip us of further rights and liberties for just a little more security!
The killers are given fame and glory for managing to create a killing spree bigger than the last one. It is treated like breaking some kind of sporting record. These behaviors only serve to further motivate sick losers who feel like nobodies and want to go out in a blaze of glory to achieve the recognition which has eluded them their entire lives.
We should remember that the same day 20 children were murdered in CT, that 80 people died in car accidents all across the nation. They are just as dead, their families miss them just as much. We should acknowledge the tragedy, but we should not wallow in it.

When *I* am talking about nuking the media, it is not a suggestion that the government should do it, it is a suggestion that we as individuals and as a like minded collective should make it financially ruinous to them to continue their current methodology.
Call them out, ridicule them, refuse to buy their products, fund alternate media sources, complain at them, and maybe even punch a few of the bastards in the mouth, (Chris Wallace e.g.) but the idea that the government should silence them is not something which my side would normally consider as a serious suggestion.
Now if we were Democrats, using the Government to force our will would be the first thing of which we would think.

Both parties are authoritarians attempting to create a police state. It's becoming a race between them because the winner gets to outlaw the existence of the loser and thus ensure they (winners) become the ruling class.MSimon wrote:Republicans have similar habits. Its one of the primary reasons I insist on keeping both groups fighting each other, the more energy and resources they expending attacking and fighting each other the less they have available to establish their own tyrannical government.

Did you see where Jake Tapper is moving to CNN? A lot of speculation is that his ABC bosses were very angry with him for embarrassing Obama by asking where he's been the last four years. (Regarding Gun Control)
Their propaganda institutions cannot be burned down fast enough to suit me. One thing about the internet, it is democratizing the means to convey information. It just needs to happen faster.
