anyone fancy explaining two things to me :

a) why does it decay differently each time anyway

b) if it decays so quickly, how come theres a universal field of it

I guess I disagree that this "observation" is anything fundamentally different than "observations" we've had for decades. This is a gravitational effect that cannot be explained by visible matter. In other words, another manifestation of the problem that led to the postulation of dark matter to begin with. This isn't even the first time gravitational lensing has been attributed dark matter-- they've been observing excess lensing from galaxy clusters for some time.

I suppose the structure of the lensing (in the form of a filament) may be something new that coincides with dark matter theory, but personally I will only consider dark matter "observed" when dark matter particles are detected on Earth.

Right. I dislike how dark matter (and dark energy) is presumed to exist. Dark matter is named and spoken of as if the existence of it is a fact.

Until an actual particle or more of such substance is actually observed, science should simply state that we don't know why there are these observed gravitational forces that do not match the visible matter configuration. Some unknown substance and form of energy we have never observed may be responsible, but we don't know what, if anything, it is.

Agreed, and for the convenience of not always having to tediously repeat all that uncertainty, they could give the unknown stuff a mysterious but catchy name.

Their conclusion is that a TC Higgs is predicted by Technicolor Theory that is consistent with expected physical properties, is low mass and has an energy level – 125 GeV – indistinguishable from the resonance now considered to be the Standard Model Higgs. Theirs is a composite particle and it does not impart mass upon everything.
