A fascinating article by Reuters this morning really brings to bear the reality that Greece faces as lenders and trade creditors refuse to help (and why should they realistically) with energy needs. The harsh reality that Iran (yes that nuclearized Iran) is the main provider of Greek oil needs surely puts into perspective what seemingly unlikely events can occur when a person, corporation, country, gets desperate. Perhaps we should reflect the other way that while all the world's bankers and money-men refuse to lend Greece money, Iran has truly become the lender of last resort for Greek survival - as it strikes us that energy needs will/should trump a coupon payment any day.

=======

Imports of Iranian oil to the United States are subject to sanctions but are still fully legal to Europe and Asia. The European Union said this week it may consider oil sanctions against Iran within weeks, after a U.N. agency said Tehran had worked to design nuclear bombs.

Doubtless the Greeks paid for the Iranian oil in Euros.

Young Lion,
Your IRGC is most certainly nothing like the US DOD. Some in the west think that your country is a military dictatorship under the IRGC, and if not, it will soon be.

Most of the rest of the world's public did not follow IRGC internal to the country activities until the Imadinnerjacket election disputes and protests.
Many people in Iran saw the subsequent crackdown on the opposition as an assertion of control by the Revolutionary Guards.

It is an impression the Guards have confirmed themselves, and members of the Basij militia, a group affiliated with the Guards, have been prominent in putting down the opposition protests.

There are also reports that the Revolutionary Guards have increased their already substantial stake in Iran's economy, with the purchase of a majority stake in the main telecommunications company.

The Guards are thought to control around a third of Iran's economy through a series of subsidiaries and trusts.

The Guards' engineering wing, Khatam-ol-Anbia (also known by an acronym, GHORB), has been awarded several multi-billion-dollar construction and engineering contracts, including the operation of Tehran's new Imam Khomeini international airport.

The Guards are also said to own or control several university laboratories, arms companies and even a car manufacturer.
Maybe you are not fully familiar with what your IRGC has been up to.

I'd not like to leave all of you with your positive or negative comments, but I should do it. It was very strange for me that there are some scientists in this blog that interested in war or they threatened or they insulted.
I am not glad to say you that it is my final comment in this forum.
It is very important that Iran has no nuclear bomb. It is really real.
I do not know why US and Israel say a lie as a pretext to justifying attacking to Iran. So, maybe we do not know the reason!
You and We have some shortcomings in your and our government laws.
What is certain is that the some problems of West's culture lead to increase in divorce, theft, rape, murder and suicide in the West, despite these problems can be confirmed.
It means that, even Western culture has many mistakes especially in performance.
I hope that no war will occur between nations.
Please remember that when you are reading the news of western news agencies, you can review the news with Iran's point of view. Maybe it will make us to be friendly.
I should say again just as a text that; the lovely peaceful world can be obtained with no Nuclear Bomb.

Again with the vague platonics.

Might sound like "an insult" but it's not -- Consider it one of those "Western" qualities. Not being a hypocrite, in the name of "friendship": You don't sound so much like an Iranian, as much as someone who is much too young and too culturally inexperienced to pretend to speak for a whole culture or country's population.

Good luck living a sheltered life, regardless in what country.

Well Young Lion, I also hope that there is not war for your country. If there is, it will not go well at all, and many of your countrymen will die. Others may die as well, but be assured that your country will not survive as it is. I do not speak this as threats, and do not intend it as such. I offer it as an observation, and also as a sad reality based on history, both recent and old.

In any event, the avoidance of war lays with your government. If they continue to act and behave as they have, it will lead to war. It is as simple as that. It matters not if Iran has or not a nuclear weapons program, that is but one thing of many that your government toys with that causes anger in other governments. And be sure, these other governments have cumulative limits to patience as well as the ability to cause your country much physical harm with little risk or danger to themselves. This is the part that your short sighted government just does not understand, and it is truly a sadness. Again, I do not say these things as threats or with anger. In fact, I feel a heavy heart as I type them. It is a certainty that war will come to Iran if your government does not change its ways.
Please understand that no amount of empty words and chanting will defeat western 1st world militaries if they choose to act. The disparity in capability and ability is more than you or your government can ever come to understand. Maybe some already know it, but unfortunately those who are making decisions are blinded with pride and foolish bravado. They are in effect bringing sticks to a gun fight. Honestly, your leaders both polictical and military have no background or experience to measure the miltary capabilities they will face in the war. They think they know, but truly they have no idea, nor any means to measure or understand it by. I do not say this in anger or hate, I state it as a simple reality that your people will not understand until they face the forces and can do nothing to stop them from severely damaging your country. In fact, in the aftermath, they still will not really understand what happened to them.
I guarantee you that many, like Saddam and Qadaffi, did not enter the fight thinking it would end so quickly and brutally with them hiding in holes in the ground, and then subsequently die brutal uncaring deaths. This too will be the fate of most of your leaders, and unfortunately many of your military and IRGC.
I am not speaking from pride or ignorance, I am trying to speak plain truth to you.
I really do hope that it does not come to war, but at this time, I do not see where it can not. The ball is with your government, it is a choice for them alone to stop the silliness. If they really think Russia or China will stick up for them, they are sadly wrong, as were others. Russia and China are purely selfish and care not for others. They pretend, but at the end, it is only self interest that they do so.
Please move yourself and your family and friends away from potential target areas for your own safety as others have recommended. Your government is painting itself into a corner that soon it will not be able to get out of, and after that point, war will come quickly and with rapid brutality which will see the destruction of your government, military and paramilitary.
Best of luck to you, and I wish you no harm. I am also sorry for what I think going to come to pass for your country.

IIUC, all radar uses vacuum tubes, since magnetrons are the first choice and they are vacuum tubes.
