I could, but that would hide the very pretty curve of the Wiffleball edge inside the ring close approaches. I'm hoping for some nice lens effects with transparent materials.
I think I'm going back to an earlier concept with six rings the victi...I mean, the customer assembles. Not so much constraint on size then. Thanks for getting me to think in another direction, again.
rjaypeters wrote:@Giorgio, I deduce you have abandoned the printers, and for good reason, too! Hence, I won't be posting higher resolution files.
I will make it in the workshop, is much much cheaper and I will get even better details
I am going to order also a complete set of the one you just made, I really like it.
The reason for my proposed design was to get the GAPS which are necessary for the WB to work. In your latest design, you have semi-nubs to hold the toroids together. Can you go ahead and make them like the NUBS on WB6&7? Then at least you will have a true Polywell design.
I recommend weak adhesive to keep rings on the side from sliding off. All the rings are identical and the top and bottom halves are almost identical, I had to trim the bottom cusp to keep the Wiffleball level.
Larger gaps, thicker coils (use WB-8 picture as a guide).
Restore the bottom "cusp", since it will then clear the table.
Make the walls of the clear "plasma" shell thicker.
Fill the hollow space with transparent "Dayglo" or similar fluorescent plastic and place the entire assembly on a UV light table for a cool glowing plasma effect.
There are also phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) versions of Dayglo, for contemplating plasma dynamics as one falls asleep.
@ DeltaV: I can do most of this list (I don't have access to fluorescent plastic but fluorescent paint might be an aftermarket option), but I don't know to what picture of WB-8 you refer. URL?
@Giorgio: I recommend waiting because I have a few ideas...
