Back when I was teaching people how to pass the LSAT (Law School Aptitude Test, IIRC)* one of my students was a film school graduate who wanted to become a lawyer so he could make more money out of deals he was constructing for other people. Enyhoo...
We got to talking and he revealed there are only four or five plots available for stories. Perhaps our entertainment organs should be given a little leeway when it comes to remakes.
As at least some people on this forum know, creativity is hard.

BTW, went to see the restored and remastered version a couple of months ago. Still a classic!
