There's a guy I work with who left Romania in 1989. He's a conservative, not because he's got some agenda, but according to him, in his Romanian accent "Why would I support the people who are just like the ones who ran Romania?"

Art, the guy I share my office with, is from Poland and he says the same thing. he also curses the Dems a lot, in Polish. I'm learning how to swear in Polish.

As I say on such occasions: People rejoiced when the Berlin wall fell... but no-one seemed to pay much attention to which way it fell...

I confess I have been surprised how far those left-leaning political ideologies actually got. We were already suckers for it (in UK), but the US!?!
