...hey, something like that happened to my church. The parking lot was rezoned without telling the parish or soliciting its input (I think this might actually be illegal), and when we finally found out about the impending development project and asked City Hall to reconsider with parish input, we got the brush-off.

Now the lot is fenced off in preparation for construction, and just to add insult to injury, they've added a fence segment that prevents pedestrians from getting from the street to the church's property (that's right, this segment doesn't fence anything off - it's accessible from both sides); anyone approaching from that side has to go the long way around.

The name of the "small town" this happened in? Toronto.

Apparently the condominium tower will be close enough to interfere with efforts to repair and restore the back wall of the church...
