The whole bunch is now tainted. People will sidle away from them at conferences at the first opportunity. "I have to call my wife in Omaha and find out how she is coming along with her rice cooking and I absolutely have to get her opinion on paper towels. She would never forgive me if I didn't ask."
As the data is analyzed and the FOIs start flying and admission of at least unethical behavior (if not criminal) is already obvious I doubt that these gentlemen will be doing science for a while.
To some extent the biases will have to change for a while if journals are to regain their reputation for "objectivity". Thus I expect at least for a while that sceptic papers will at least get through and might even predominate if the volume of material warrants it. Three to six months will tell that tale.
CRU Hacked > AGW Scientist Fraud Exposed
Phil Jones has stepped aside at CRU while an investigation ensues. Whitewash ahead?
Climategate is spreading. Coverage in USA Today today and theres stuff going on in New Zealand over NIWA fraud, while Australia's Liberal Party head stepped down and was replaced by a skeptic, with legislators mentioning the emails as a reason. Other things at U Belfast and SUNY are breaking... More journalists are piling on and actually starting to read the emails and files.
