Ping science influencers when time is right. Im not really into science youtube/etc but i expect there might be a few.
(Bad examples) Scott Manley (he would care about space propulsion), Sabine Hossenfelder (science), ... i cant recall any others off hand.
But if crowdfunding general public, raising general public's attention there, would be worth a try.

Re: EMC2 news
If the homework isn´t done and ample motivation is provided to show why a polywell is a good project to pursue, begging on kickstarter will just discredit both kickstarter and the polywell
Re: EMC2 news
Any serious fusion endeavour will require large funding over a long time span. Having a stable funding is an important part of enabling long term planning for different milestones and scaling up towards fusion energy production. I have a hard time seeing that large and long term funding could be raised from crowd funding sources. LPPFusion has turned to crowd funding and they have just enough funds continue with their current scale, but they have not been able to raise large sums in that way to have enough funding to increase their personnel. It might be hard to attract large investors if crowd funding has been used, but that is only speculation from my side.
Re: EMC2 news
The focus here would be to augment other funding sources to ensure the work can be sustained. Literally, a "Kickstart" effort.
While grants and such are available, they tend to not be enough or last long enough unless your project is connected.
I think some great points have been raised about priming the well pump before going live. Marketing ahead of time would seem to be critical, and is supported by the thoughts provided here. So, how could we build an initiative to 'get the word out' about Polywell's utility for needs short of self-sustained fusion, in order to cement a financial path forward to complete the research for it's viability for fully sustained fusion?
It seems neutron source, space drive, etc. are good paths. Neutron Sources are a hot topic and need in the industry for many reasons.
Enlisting the Science Influencers seems key to a grass roots effort to raise a couple of million if possible.

Re: EMC2 news
Polywell will always have a special place in my personal research journey.
Nice to see an update to emc2 website.
I wish I had the accreditation (and big money problems) to properly support them. They now have to compete with many other dark horse concepts and practical timelines (ZAP energy, Helion).
I still hope emc2 goes somewhere, anywhere, and they end up being the best. I doubt they will be first to publicly announced break even.

Agreed. I, and I'm sure others as well, had visions of Polywells powering ships with Mach-effect thrusters traversing the solar system. We may not get the later, but certainly the former is still alive and kicking, and for that I am content.
