I stand by my numbers because I got them from the horses mouth ..so to speak.
My wife's brother is a barangay chief. (local sheriff) and when she talk to him that's what he said. He and a group are currently working their way to the disaster zone trying to clear the coastal road so relief trucks can get to the displaced folks. They have aid but can not get it to the people in need. He said we need to get the local banks open so remittances can come in.(zoom, western union) and people can then get to safety and get help.
I am not a nuclear physicist, but play one on the internet.

The Philippines should declare war on Russia, China, and India.
Why Russia?
Because all three are ramping up coal burning.
Since 2000, global coal consumption has grown faster than any other fuel. The five largest coal users - China, USA, India, Russia and Japan - account for 76% of total global coal use.

I don't think anyone has disputed your information. We all know that hurricanes have a good side and a bad side. In this case there is a significant difference because the storm was moving so fast.

However watts is saying something completely different.

I'd plead Russia off on volume.

On China and India I agree. They're the greatest present danger to the Philippines.

We're starting to wake up, plus the US Marines were the first outsiders helping after Haiyan. The US and the Philippines go back a long way. I served under Filipino noncoms who taught me a lot and earned and still hold my respect.
We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.
