Regressives Restrict Research
We are just now finding out so many things we should have known decades ago. That we would have found out if one US political party hadn't decided populism was the way to go, and destroyed the US in order to achieve their own power, starting with the Southern Strategy.
The teaparty is merely the latest manifestation of the slavers. They're still fighting the same old lost battles. And they're causing nothing but misery, and tragically, for themselves most of all. They'll be the first to die in the hell they are deliberately creating. The stupids.

We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.

Re: Regressives Restrict Research
I wrote Obama and asked him (as a donor, and a max donor at that) to pay attention to the technology this site is devoted to: polywell fusion specifically. I pointed out the eminence of Dr. Bussard, and his previous service, and the promising, if ambiguous, results you guys had at that time. I didn't push it as anything more than it is: a promising piece of research. I emphasized the minimal cost, compared to many other ongoing efforts. I emphasized the returns if it could be established to work by building a large enough model to check the scaling factor. (The gyro-magnetic radii imply that the power output should scale as the seventh power of the radius of the polywell, isn't that right?)
I wonder to what extent members of the administration had a look at it and decided it was BS because you're all climate cranks.
Pitiful.

Sorry, I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with David Brin instead. He's a lot more fun.

David Brin knows me; remind him of the DCQE.
And Jack Cramer's TIQM.
And thanks for reminding me; I haven't looked Cramer's experiment at LIGO Hanford in a few years, not having had anyone to talk to.

So if there's no polywell research money, you know why. It's not like you didn't have progressive allies suggesting it.
You screwed it up.
You were more interested in lynching the black President.

Remember the line, "How would you feel sitting on top of tons of high explosives designed by the lowest bidder?"
It didn't have to be that way, but the destroyatives of the time insisted on it. It took Apollo 1 before they admitted they needed to stop being cheap. People appear to have forgotten the lesson which is not surprising considering most of them are in their graves. Three people burned alive from the inside out to learn it.

" It took Apollo 1 before they admitted they needed to stop being cheap."
They never stopped being cheap. They never stopped murdering astronauts.
For the last batch, they didn't even bother surveying the wing damage.
It took private enterprise--SpaceX--to start being smart and pay appropriately.

They were going to run out of consumables. There was nothing else on any pad anywhere.
Die fast or die slow.
They chose fast.

As far as murdering anyone, triple redundancy.

We could have had an accelerator ten times the power of the LHC two decades ago, had the Republicans not insisted upon killing all possible science because it was "big gummint."
