LAX shooting

Post by GIThruster »

Note the press is again calling the AR15 an "assault weapon" which it is not, and no one is correcting them. Also note that because the AR15 is only semi-automatic, the shooter was only able to kill 2 people. Had the shooter been carrying an M16, you can be assured there would have been many more shots fired before he went down.

Also note that although airports are gun free zones in a sense, they are also heavily populated with police. If that has been a truly gun free zone, we could have seen hundreds of people killed. It was lawful guns that stopped the unlawful acts of this psycho.

Actually he was only killing TSA employees, apparently.

Legally, an AR15 is an assault weapon; if he'd been shooting people at random it would have made not much difference between semi and full rock-n-roll, and most experienced shooters avoid auto because it wastes ammo. Full auto is for when your guys are goin' around right and you wanna make the bait keep their heads down. You don't expect to kill anyone with it.

Now if he'd been trying to kill as many as he could, firing on full auto into a crowd would do it. So you have a point there. But that's not what he was doing, apparently. According to witnesses. On the most recent CNN article. I won't bothering linking, go to CNN, it'll be on the front page until at least tomorrow.

In any case while the anti-gun nutjobs make a big deal out of it, I don't expect this one is going to motivate a bunch of new gun laws.

OTOH, watch fate make a fool of me, and the newspapers have a fit about this.

Sure. That's why the cops have guns.
We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.
