Single Payer? Are You Kidding?
Re: Single Payer? Are You Kidding?
How much suffering do we have to put up with, how many lies:
http://ace.mu.nu/archives/344566.php
The fact is that they wanted to push single payer down our throats the minute they had the keys to governance regardless of the consequence and the cost. Never mind the million of lost jobs, the dying and killed medical supply industry, the individuals forced to suffer and make hard decisions. The only thing that mattered to them was that this was their chance to get something they have always wanted.

Re: Single Payer? Are You Kidding?
But there isn't any single-payer.
That's why it's so screwed up, and so expensive.
Maybe you forgot.
It's what you said you wanted. Does it not taste as good as you thought?
Here, let me help; I have a funnel and a toilet plunger to make sure it goes down.

We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.
Re: Single Payer? Are You Kidding?
They admitted they lied to get the bill passed:

They want us, the people who are going to have to pay for this, to just bend over and get screwed. Are they kidding? Really?

More lies:

And still more:
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/36 ... n#comments
Did they realize what they were going to do to people? Do they realize now? Do they really want to force people to give up their homes, their retirement, kids vacations, and the things they work for for this redistributionist monstrosity? What happens when people don't go for it? Start putting some in prison as "examples?"
After all this, how could anybody even think of giving these people any more power or even trust them a little bit?

But there's no single payer.
How can you claim single payer failed if there's no single payer?
I mean, just askin'. If your doctor tells you to take your pills and ignore me by all means go ahead.

All you need to understand these people is a question. "What would the Nazis do?"

Politically, it’s awful for Obama. The promise to let people keep their doctors and health plans was one of his biggest talking points when he sold the health law to Americans. The line underplayed how Obamacare’s many moving parts would affect the health insurance market, with some unforeseen consequences for consumers. People are getting letters from their insurance companies saying their old plan is ending just as the healthcare.gov marketplace, where they theoretically could shop for new plans, is limping along. The situation angers and confuses ordinary consumers and gives fodder to the president’s critics.

You know, I'm tired of some HR type bureaucrat telling us to buck and fill out this form and do that rather than accepting responsibility for the pain they are causing:

The joke isn't the Congressman's little comments on how old he is, the joke on all of us that is the incompetent uberstate represented by people like Sebelius who the congressman so neatly skewered. The fact is that small businesses all over the place are facing the same issues the Congressman raised and looking at the same likelihood of going out of business. Many in my area have gone out of business taking jobs with them.

A comment from another board I am on:
Interesting segment on PBS last night:
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/governme ... transcript
Yes, I am a PBS shill but it is the only news I can put up with
generally, sometimes. Not always.
It is in the second part where people are talking about it with Gwen
Ifill. The ACA proponent can't get it through his head that if your
insurance is cancelled and you can't sign up for a new policy you are not
covered for medical bills. As long as you get covered before a fine is
levied is all that is important to him. Which might be true in the long run
but if you go broke before hand, right at the start of winter ...
The thing is that people are now being faced with the possibility of losing all they have or having to use most of their disposable income to pay for something they may not need.

As a result, insurance companies across the country have sent cancellation notices to more than 2 million people who had purchased policies on the individual market. In New Jersey, there are 800,000; in Florida, 300,000; in California, 279,000; and in Michigan, 140,000.
These 2 million that have lost their coverage are part of the 14 million that have individual coverage. This does not include the additional 50 percent that the rates will double. And do not say I had a substandard package. The new insurance offers far less coverage at a higher price.

Re: Single Payer? Are You Kidding?
I think that this is a "read my lips" moment for the administration and the Democratic party. The press can't write this one off as a minor scandal and too many people are getting those notices of cancellation, having their hours cut back or facing the issue of having to pay for something that they may not need with money they do not have. The "let them eat cake" attitude of the administration is not helping.paperburn1 wrote:http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... obama-too/

I think that we are just at the beginning of realizing just how bad this is going to get:

Unfortunately this is not new; it was announced in 2010 in this press release:paperburn1 wrote:http://www.businessweek.com/articles/20 ... are#r=read

That's from HHS; they're a Cabinet-level part of the Executive. The date is June 2010.
NBC is lying.
"Grandfathered health plans will be able to make routine changes to their policies and maintain their status. These routine changes include cost adjustments to keep pace with medical inflation, adding new benefits, making modest adjustments to existing benefits, voluntarily adopting new consumer protections under the new law, or making changes to comply with State or other Federal laws. Premium changes are not taken into account when determining whether or not a plan is grandfathered.
Plans will lose their grandfathered status if they choose to make significant changes that reduce benefits or increase costs to consumers."
It's the insurance companies, who are reducing benefits and increasing costs to consumers. Their plans are losing their grandfathered status because they're greedy.

Re: Single Payer? Are You Kidding?
As bad as it gets, as much evidence as may be presented that the democrats lied, the village idiots will still somehow blame the republicans who voted against the law and warned us it would be a disaster.
The daylight is uncomfortably bright for eyes so long in the dark.

Yes, and we can reach back into the past and change it, too.hanelyp wrote:As bad as it gets, as much evidence as may be presented that the democrats lied, the village idiots will still somehow blame the republicans who voted against the law and warned us it would be a disaster.
Your argument contains an anachronism. Most physicists believe anachronisms are impossible, and the ones who don't think it takes a wormhole. Are you claiming I have a wormhole?

Dude, they wrote it in 2010. Are you having trouble thinking?
NBC went quick-n-dirty and screwed up the story. They failed in their due diligence.
