Let me translate, Carbon regulations could cost ratepayers trillions in higher energy bills, millions of lost jobs, lost productivity and lost lives due to energy poverty. Should they be worried?:

We are talking energy poverty here and it's all our concern.

Depends how old you are. And if you got kids.
I ain't worried.
Good luck.
Après moi, le déluge.

We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.
Re: Should We Worry
I got a kid and am not worried, except that she might become victim of Agenda 21 if the greenies get their way.

“Termites emit ten time more CO2 than humans, should we cap-and-tax them?”
Not just CO2 but methane, and since it's China and India that have rising CO2 emissions while the West is at least flatlining, maybe the message is going to the wrong crowd.

14.2.2 Emissions
3-4
The only pollutant of concern from termite activity is CH4. Emissions of CH4 from termites can be spproximated by an emission factor derived from laboratory test data. Applying these data to field estimates of termite population to obtain a realistic, large-scale value for CH4 emissions is suspect, but an order-of-magnitude approximation of CH4 emissions can be made. Termite activity also results in the production of carbon dioxide (CO2). These CO2 emissions are part of the regular carbon cycle, and as such should not be included in a greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
So, not according to the EPA. Sorry, man, you vs. the EPA, you lose. Get over it.
Errr, except no CO2 at all. Derp. Remember that "Termite activity also results in the production of carbon dioxide (CO2). These CO2 emissions are part of the regular carbon cycle, and as such should not be included in a greenhouse gas emissions inventory" part? It's right up there ^.choff wrote:Not just CO2 but methane,
Actually I've been saying that the whole time but nobody listens.choff wrote:and since it's China and India that have rising CO2 emissions while the West is at least flatlining, maybe the message is going to the wrong crowd.

Re: Should We Worry
Listen to greenie rhetoric and a lot of them seem to see trillions in higher energy bills, millions of lost jobs, lost productivity and lost lives due to energy poverty as features.
The daylight is uncomfortably bright for eyes so long in the dark.
Re: Should We Worry
Of course it's a feature. You're saving Mother Gaia, after all, and they'll love the idea of the sacrifice until it kicks THEM in the yarbles.hanelyp wrote:Listen to greenie rhetoric and a lot of them seem to see trillions in higher energy bills, millions of lost jobs, lost productivity and lost lives due to energy poverty as features.
Sad thing is, they won't associate the effect (massive pain in the wallet & lifestyle) with the cause.
When opinion and reality conflict - guess which one is going to win in the long run.

Err, actually we recommend more efficiency, training for new jobs in efficient technologies, and the promulgation of super-efficient technologies like wood-burning refrigerator-generators, which can keep medicine that must remain cold and charge small computers and cell-phones. And the fires still work to cook dinner.hanelyp wrote:Listen to greenie rhetoric and a lot of them seem to see trillions in higher energy bills, millions of lost jobs, lost productivity and lost lives due to energy poverty as features.
Now that's green.

There's the thingumajig. It's existed since 2007. Why isn't it pervasive? You tell me.

Actually it is more of a 'don't shit where you eat' mentality. The planet is in no danger from us puny humans. Chances are it will still be here after we are gone.JLawson wrote:Of course it's a feature. Yep. Could get a little unpleasant first if we're stupid, though.Stubby wrote:Actually it is more of a 'don't shit where you eat' mentality. The planet is in no danger from us puny humans.
