There is not a single cause to this insanity, it has multiple fathers. Among them are the existence of Great Prosperity in that State. For reasons of human nature, immense wealth always seems to usher in it's own destruction.

Another contributing factor is the idiot box and related phenomena. People simply don't learn things which they would learn if they didn't have so many stupid distractions.

And to top it all off, the Education system is Unionized, Democrat, and Liberal. It combines incompetence, State Dictates, and a fantasy world based ideology.

California is proving Huxley to be one mean prognosticator.

That was hilarious. Especially funny was him getting people to support a Nazi police state. You couldn't have done that in the 50s when I was growing up. The memories were too fresh. Too many parents back from WW2. War crimes trials in the news. The parents of that generation are mostly dead. My mom is 94. The memories are fading and it is now ancient history.
