"Fifty Shades of Marx."

Woman's got a sense of humor, she does...

If you dig back into her archives, she's got good advice for beginning writers. Her example got me to pull out an old short story I'd submitted to Analog (and of course was turned down) - and see if I could patch it and inflate it to novella-size. Then she mentioned the Kindle Direct Publishing route - and folks actually bought copies of the thing.

If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can borrow it for free.

And the second in the series...

Feedback would be appreciated - and if I shouldn't be pushing books here in General, I apologize in advance!
When opinion and reality conflict - guess which one is going to win in the long run.

We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.

BTW, what's "marxian thought?"

Is that a thoughtcrime?

Or is it like "joxvian thought" or "saturxnian thought" and you forgot the t?

I'll go with jokesvian thought; just sayin'.

So, I have to ask, do you often meet Marxians?

Are they green and small? Or grey with big black eyes?

Do they have antennae? Beaks? Tentacles?

Did you forget to take your medicine?

And of course, "marxian" is a mistranslation a non-English speaker is likely to make.

It's "marxist," in English. Even American English.

Where are you from again? France?

U.S. debt jumps $300 billion — tops $17 trillion for first time

U.S. debt jumped more than $300 billion on Thursday, the first day the federal government was able to borrow money under the deal President Obama and Congress sealed this week.

The debt now equals $17.075 trillion, according to figures the Treasury Department posted online on Friday.

The $328 billion increase is an all-time record, shattering the previous high of $238 billion set two years ago.

But the deficit is down.

How do you explain that?

It's not encouraging when we're talking about "marxian" "infection." I already think that's pretty nutty just on its own.

I have questions about whether she even knows what "marxian thought" is, not to mention the poster.

And I already made the point about this looking a lot like thoughtcrime straight out of 1984. "He's got marxian thought! Send for the thought police and arrest him immediately before he infects someone else!"

And finally, have fun fighting Darth Boris and the mad marxians with your light saber. May the farce be with you.
