I can't see why anyone would want to talk to stupids on the fusion discussion site. I've talked to perhaps three people since I came here who are actually capable of discussing fusion, or any other physics, as compared to fifteen or twenty meshbacks who are afraid of equations.

Whatever this place is, it's not about fusion. Most of the people here can't even discuss fusion competently. I saw one of these idiots trying to talk about B-p11 fusion. Really.

I don't care if you ploink me. What we do is mostly talk past each other but other people reading will see both sides and form opinions hopefully based on evidence and not faith or presupposition.

But how do we get any changes to the voting system with out current political environment? The existing PACs would certainly fight such a change tooth-and-nail. An anti-extremist PAC could also campaign for voting system changes such as these...

People talk about that all the time without understanding how the base government of the USA functions. We're not a democracy, the people do not vote for federal laws or anything federal for that matter. Each state has a certain amount of sovereignty and part of that sovereignty is to determine how it's electoral votes are counted. ~You~ do not vote for the President, your state does. Your voting to indicate to your state which option to take. This framework is part of the US Constitution, would take an amendment to change and even then it's doubtful. Essentially no state can tell another state how to vote. Citizens of California can not tell Citizens of Mississippi how to vote. The fact that the federal government has been massing far too much domestic power for the past 70 years is something that's been worrying me. Our entire government system is designed for the states to wield the majority of domestic power with the federal government overseeing power over foreign affairs.

I'm not suggesting there needs to be a national law governing how votes are counted. The conditions don't change when trying to push through voting systems changes at the state-level. You are still going to have PACs / special interests fighting the change.

My thought is simply that the only way to stop the extremification of our politics and allow consideration of anything that sticks of being moderate (compromise, voting system changes) is to have money our there that is specifically countering the extremists.

Personally I'm half Swedish, a quarter Norwegian, and a quarter English Irish, AKA "black Irish." 100% white, if you consider Irish white. Probably more aryan than you are: 75%.
