The startup will soon build a demonstration facility in collaboration with Colorado State University, where it hopes two 100-Joule lasers will prove its core technology. Shovels hit the dirt on October 16, and von der Linden expects it’ll be operational by early 2027.

The idea of using wafer tech for encasing the fuel pellets thus enabling mass production of the pellet targets is very innovative.
For sure it removes one of the big obstacles plaguing laser fusion but I still believe that the biggest issue will be the precise rapid repetitive focusing of the laser on the target.
