2 X-class Solar Flares Today

The Sun is very active, approaching the peak of the solar cycle in only two or three years. We're already under alert for a previous flare, of lesser power than X-class; this new pair of flares both came from Active Region 1882, which has just emerged over the limb of the Sun. We can expect impact of any solar storm from this flare on Sunday or Monday. Also this was accompanied by two major magnetic events at some distance from AR1882; the implication is that a major magnetic storm may be emerging from the Sun leading to multiple flares and potential global eruptions all over the Sun, depending on how large it is.

We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.
