This is what happens when you don't batten down and restrict passengers to quarters.
It's not like a 20-foot sea is going to sneak up on you. Goddamn hotel managers instead of seamen. The Captain should be sacked.

Looks like they lost their stabilization gear. Without it, what would normally be a barely sensible surge becomes a roller coaster ride. And the gear is usually simple enough that it doesn't go out much. New design? Bad maintenance? Hubris?
