Understanding risk

We engineers understand that you come to a point where you cut metal and gamble that it works when you press the button. Progressives don't seem to be able to grasp that simple fact. Instead they enamored with endless studying of problems:

Frankly I think that the best thing that Gov. Jindal should do is tell the Feds to go to hell and just go ahead and do the things he wants to do. If they don't work, he can always try the next thing. Any solution that addresses the problem is better than endless studying and environmental impact reports. I'll give you an environmental impact report. You have a disaster. Anything that is going to be done will not make the situation worse. Doing nothing will.

And the real work goes on in spite of the red sticky tape from the Obama regime:

The last time they blew a well in the gulf, they basically had to wait for it to stop gushing on its own, then cap it.

I'm not sure tech has increased since then, but we do have much better mini-subs.
