I think I have brought this book up before (The Savage Wars of Peace), but it has a nice bit on ole' Smedley covering his heydays. Not his kook days. He helped write the book on counter-insurgency techniques. But he got kooky in the end. Had some bones to pick over some long term grudges I think.
