Republicans are the stupid Party. They claim to be the anti (or at least smaller) government party. And yet when the left evidences any anti-government tendency what so ever the Rs start screaming "law and order". The GOP is not a political Party. It is a church.

I was reading about Lincoln's law partner recently. He was a transcendentalist. Would a transcendentalist be welcome in today's Party? Not very. The party used to be the harbor of "free thinkers". Now? Not so much. The Goldwater/Reagan wing of the Party used to be central to the Party's identity. Now the Party wants them out.

I have personally given them what they want. I'm out. And working against them.

True that. But Republicans want to be ruled in the name of moral socialism. "Burn the witches" is their unofficial motto. These days they don't call them witches. They call them "libertarians". More on that here:

No Simon, it is a force of nature that will dominate in the long run. There are those people who recognize that it *IS* a force of nature, and there are those that think they can play games with it and win. Their economic equivalent are those who think they can beat Adam Smith's invisible hand. The looming Debt avalanche is going to rectify that false notion. I believe the title of the thread is "latest liberal loon." While most liberals are members of the Democrat party, the Republican party is also infected, though to a much lesser degree.
