I can't see the point of a hybrid aircraft.

Aircraft engines do not vary their power much in a flight regime. OTOH it might be a good thing for takeoff and thus use a smaller engine for steady flight.

The difficulty IMO is that you only get a few minutes of boost until you start getting into weight penalties. Unless significant efficiency gains are possible (lowering the required fuel load).
Engineering is the art of making what you want from what you can get at a profit.

I agree with Msimon. I have been thinking the same thing. It sounds stupid.
