Speaking from experience, you have a tendency to add more meaning to a statement than is there. I'd recommend taking a few minutes, breathing a little, then approaching from a different angle as I fear you may stress yourself back to ad hominem attacks again. of course I believe the previous statements apply more to Parallel's comments.GIThruster wrote:Don't be absurd. I made a call for the attacks to stop and your response is to make more attacks. I think the readers here all know when we're being treated with contempt.
Let's allow cooler-heads to prevail and get back on a friendly discourse.

It ought to be obvious Scott, that Betruger is deliberately treating both parallel and myself with severe contempt and justifying such. I don't need your patronizing. I don't need to step back and take a deep breath. Your behavior is as bad as his.

Attacks against 'position', not the person. (except via possible logical extension).GIThruster wrote:How could anyone take this opportunity to launch personal attacks on people for no purpose, except to show he can do whatever he wants?
Besides, TOO MUCH BULLSHIT and TOO MANY BULLSHITTERS and TOO MANY PROXY BULLSHITTERS - lower the standard of any debate. (were it worthy in the first place). They deserve whatever is coming their way.
Keep going GIT. Maybe you can rile up a good mob.

People reading this thread will properly come to their own conclusions based on the evidence. The line between proper comment and ad homs is a fine one, I'll grant, but who crossed it first, and furthest?GIThruster wrote:It ought to be obvious Scott, that Betruger is deliberately treating both parallel and myself with severe contempt and justifying such. Tom - Tell me is the ad hom a rhetorical means, or end when pointing out that Dr Prins' character, to take an example unrelated to this here discussion, was an obstacle to productive dialog?
Really Parallel's knee jerk insults hasn't been seen since Icarus.

Re Prinz. I reckon that one is right on the fine line. It is true (my belief), and relevant, but not helpful to dialog to point it out directly.Betruger wrote:Tom - Tell me is the ad hom a rhetorical means, or end when pointing out that Dr Prins' character, to take an example unrelated to this here discussion, was an obstacle to productive dialog?

The point is that character is fixed, so you are saying you don't think he can ever engage in dialog. Whereas whether he, like everyone else, can do this probably depends at least to some extent on the situation.
I think what has annoyed people on this thread is not parallel's views, but they way that he claims to be open minded whilst continually hinting that Rossi probably has what he claims and accepting his statements without qualification. It is disingenuous.
So what we are really talking about here is Critical Thinking skills.

Only "Pathological Skeptics" think critically. While good guys opening mouth trust to any nonsense Rossi tells. Even if often he contradicts himself.ladajo wrote:So what we are really talking about here is Critical Thinking skills.
Good guys speak, that not matters that Rossi isn't able to do a proper calorimetry. And those good guys consider Dekfalion or Leonardo Holding something similar to serious companies with solid R&D teams.
Or 20 years old "certificators". Forgetting that certifications should be issued only by Governmental authorities.
"We removed central element from hot e-cat". Certainly he can, as there is not only one working part in that reactor. And that is a resistive heater.

If you see something wrong, e.g. any Rossi's demo and say "this is wrong" explaining why you think so, what is this - "thinking on how to be critical, aka how to criticize"?KitemanSA wrote:Unfortunately, all too many on this forum seem to believe that means "thinking on how to be critical, aka how to criticize".ladajo wrote:So what we are really talking about here is Critical Thinking skills.
Reactor consists of IIRC 4 pieces and they removed one of 4. What would you think? I think that part was not needed at all. And you?
Also, what do think, has Rossi invented one more great thing - the method how to store hydrogen at 800 C deg?
I know hydrides of metals desorb gases at tens deg, hunderd deg. Even titanium which is very strong adsorbent and, so, used in kryogenics and for high vacuum, desorbs gases at 300 C deg. 300 with zero gases and Rossi discovered storing method at 800?
This is the first paper in which one group has reported 100% success in multiple cold fusion tests (over 150) in which over unity (Cop = 2) is reported.
