Weird space stuff
Re: Weird space stuff
A better job of image processing (got too wild with the resampling last time).
Conventional interpretation 1: An arc-shaped chunk of surface got shifted to inside the crater perimeter some time after impact (quake?).
Fringe interpretation 1: The mined material (H2O?) was moved along the curved ramp to the loading platform for stowage, prior to lift-off.

Re: Weird space stuff
It is not a crater, it is the dome of a large airlock. You can also see the hinge at ~5:00 position and the locking mechanism along the right hand side.

Another botched landing on Ceres. Only a tail fin remains...

Re: Weird space stuff
OK, the final enhancement (until low altitude orbit data arrives) of the strip mine on Ceres, engineered by fugitive Third Reich Space Nazis.

Re: Weird space stuff
That is just plain weird.
The development of atomic power, though it could confer unimaginable blessings on mankind, is something that is dreaded by the owners of coal mines and oil wells. (Hazlitt)

Now that Dawn has been in a Low Altitude Mapping Orbit (LAMO) for weeks, it's hard to understand why this has not been made a high-priority imaging target. They've probably moved the "loader" on the curved ramp back into its bunker by now... :(
