Cancer Research Chemist Cured His Prostate Cancer

How did he cure it? Cannabis.

http://youtu.be/ym0BSdEIjJA - The interviewer is lousy but otherwise Biochemist Dennis Hill makes a very good case.

Some text on the subject for those who prefer reading: Biochemist Dennis Hill, who cured his stage 4 prostate cancer with Cannabis oil, explains how it works

This explanation is complete at the link. I thought a teaser might be in order:
It is known that THC and CBD are biomimetic to anandamide, that is, the body can use both interchangeably. Thus, when stress, injury, or illness demand more from endogenous anandamide than can be produced by the body, its mimetic exocannabinoids are activated. If the stress is transitory, then the treatment can be transitory. If the demand is sustained, such as in cancer, then treatment needs to provide sustained pressure of the modulating agent on the homeostatic systems.

Typically CBD gravitates to the densely packed CB2 receptors in the spleen, home to the body’s immune system. From there, immune cells seek out and destroy cancer cells. Interestingly, it has been shown that THC and CBD cannabinoids have the ability to kill cancer cells directly without going through immune intermediaries. THC and CBD hijack the lipoxygenase pathway to directly inhibit tumor growth. As a side note, it has been discovered that CBD inhibits anandamide reuptake. Here we see that cannabidiol helps the body preserve its own natural endocannabinoid by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks down anandamide.

In 2006, researchers in Italy showed the specifics of how Cannabidiol (CBD) kills cancer.

Great news if true. Marijuana might finally HAVE some medicinal value!

Needs clinical testing to verify efficacy.

Different thread, same topical idea. (Pun intended).

With the Federal ban you will not see clinical testing in the US. And if it proves true? That would make cannabis prohibition a crime against humanity. BTW see the original post - I have updated it with some science. One bit of the science - Italian scientists discovered how cannabis cures cancer in 2006. It is now 7 years later and Federal Prohibition continues.

The market is Global now. A Federal ban will be relaxed or lifted (eventually) if real results are confirmed.

I read the original link. I believe I have a good grasp as to what the man claims, (It stimulates apoptosis in cancer cells) and I know enough about the topic to think that his claims can be established one way or the other.

Beyond that, one would have to spend quite a lot of time becoming very knowledgeable about this particular type of biochemistry to voice an authoritative opinion on the subject. With that i'll leave the specific molecular interactions for the Chemistry majors to follow.

Unless you are trying to prevent/cure lung cancer.

http://www.webmd.com/lung-cancer/news/2 ... ung-tumors - note the date - 2007.

http://blog.norml.org/2013/06/19/study- ... lications/ - Donald Tashkin - the author of the study cited was at one time rabidly anti-cannabis. Now he is only mildly anti-cannabis. Why did he do the study? He was SURE it would prove the dangers of cannabis ssmok8ing.

In any case what we currently have is prejudice over science in those currently supporting Prohibition - not counting of course police, gangs, and the criminal justice system that currently profit from Prohibition.

BTW I am currently in touch with the person who is writing the Illinois Med Pot regulations. She is very knowledgeable about the endocannabinoid system. The law is rather narrowly written. The regulations will likely broaden the conditions treated.

There's already been three tests.

"There have been only three small clinical trials on the use of Cannabis in cancer patients. All three studies assessed antiemetic activity but each explored a different patient population and chemotherapy regimen. One study demonstrated no effect, the second study showed a positive effect versus placebo, and the report of the third study did not provide enough information to characterize the overall outcome as positive or neutral. Consequently, there are insufficient data to provide an overall level of evidence assessment for the use of Cannabis for chemotherapy-induced N/V. Apparently, there are no published data on the use of Cannabis for other cancer-related or cancer treatment–related symptoms."

And I too hope it works. Seems we'll find out. This page was posted Aug. 2013 so this is very new.

The normal course of events is that as med pot is accepted legally, legalization for recreational use follows.

Push for legalization:
http://blog.mpp.org/tax-and-regulate/th ... /09092013/

The Marijuana Policy Project announced Monday it will support efforts to end marijuana prohibition in 10 more states by 2017. The announcement comes one day before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing at which it will address the U.S. Justice Department’s recent decision to allow states to regulate the cultivation and sale of marijuana.
I think my estimation of the end of Federal cannabis prohibition in 2020 is not far off the mark.
“Most Americans are tired of seeing their tax dollars used to arrest and prosecute adults for using a substance that is objectively less harmful than alcohol,” said MPP executive director Rob Kampia. “Voters and state legislators are ready for change, and the federal government appears to be ready, as well.”
Allowing people to switch from alcohol to cannabis lowers traffic fatalities.

Even innocent bystanders will benefit from the end of prohibition.

Obviously I still think that is all rubbish. Pot makes people crazy, lazy and untrustworthy. You're a perfect example, Simon. It has completely ruined your life. And as result, you are still telling people you are an engineer when you most certainly are not. Engineers have academic degrees and you do not.

Get it straight, Simon. Pot, not prohibition; has utterly ruined your life.

I would say that's not the normal course of events, heroin was never legalized for recreational use the same with MDA , speed, and a host of other drugs. In my opinion the best you can hope for is legal controlled substance by prescription with no off shelf uses.

We may disagree on global warming, but we're on the same side on cannabis. There are also mental and emotional benefits. There are drawbacks; and certain types of folks with certain sorts of things in their medical and genetic history have to be careful; but they're a minority, even of current users. And the information on who's at risk is widely available.

It's a joke to have marijuana illegal in the 21st century when ethyl alcohol is not.
We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.
