I watched that video where various fusion companies talked to a Congressional committee. Helion voiced concerns about supply chains. So a couple questions:

1. Do you see the increasing amount of money and new fusion private startups helping to build supply chains, talent ect?

2. Had the US been building fission reactors consistently (say 10 per year) for the last 10 or 20 years would/could that infrastructure, supply chain and knowledge be rapidly converted to building the first commercially competitive fusion reactor?

I think fusion supply chains are quite different from fission.

The startups are certainly working on building supply chains. The Fusion Industry Association is also pushing hard for it. But, the US government has to acknowledge that China is investing A LOT into that right now. They are behind the startups in terms of fusion machines, but what does that matter if they own the supply chains later?

Europe is still completely asleep, btw.
