Be it your hotel room on Mars, or your office on Titan, your casino orbiting on Saturn's rings or a sleeper compartment on a deep space transport, you want to start here:

We considered a Murphy bed for our rental condo. The place is 1 bedroom, two bath, and a sofa bed. Technically it sleeps four, but we've tried the sofa bed and, frankly, "sleep" is of dubious quality on the torture instrument that folds out of the sofa.

They certainly would have a place in compact space habitats. They can be as comfortable as a real bed.

But for a home on Earth, just be advised that Murphy beds are as fashionable as fanny packs and AMC Pacers. This has been true since they were the butt of jokes in 1930's movies.
