Reducing Drug Sentences

Well the drug war profiteers are hard at work opposing any changes:
I suspect we have some people profiting from Drug Prohibition on this very blog.
Well isn't that special. Incarceration for profit. When the Drug War is over I'd prosecute those folks for crimes against humanity. Unfilled beds. And who will pay for these "motels"? Taxpayers. It doesn't matter whose lives they ruin. As long as they can profit from it. Fortunately it is mostly Blacks being incarcerated. White people wouldn't stand for it.But resistance is strong. In addition to the reluctance of legislators who worry they will be perceived as being soft on crime, the pushback includes prosecutors, the Florida Sheriff’s Association and both public prison officials and private prison lobbyists. The prison advocates have quietly opposed the legislation at a time when there is a surplus of prison beds in Florida.
