When you have a black box navy a compact unlimited power source is almost a necessity. There is some strange stuff going on right now:

The fact that the Navy's newest ship are big empty boxes and that polywell was taken off the radar so fast is interesting in light of recent developments. It's interesting that the Navy's free electron laser is also off the radar screen when the potential opponent is likely going to a missile strategy.
