Why Oil Companies Fund Greens

As an ex-oilfield geologist from many years ago – even way back then, if I’ve said this once, I’ve said it a million times – the oil companies are absolutely loving the green agenda – yes, even the anti-arctic drilling, etc – ALL of this makes their ‘product’ more expensive and more wanted/needed by the oil hungry world. I wouldn’t be surprised to find a large percentage of NGO ‘green’ funding coming from oil companies via various annonymous donations. A single cent on a barrel of oil means companies are worth millions more – billions, if they have very large ‘reserves’. To paraphrase another mega giant type corporation (McD’s) ‘They are simply loving it!’
Shutting down coal plants is a HUGE boon to the natural gas companies who need more consumers to absorb the glut of gas they are producing. And they get the demand built in. And when the glut is absorbed? Prices will zoom. This will be bad for heat in the winter. Unaffordable heat in winter is good for Social Security though.

Link? This looks like something that I would like to follow up on. It also tracks with stuff I've been hearing for some time. To say nothing of all those ads about how green Shell or BP is. YO have to wonder what the motive that Greenpeace had for protesting on that rig in Russia?:

This isn't the goal at this point; at this point it's preventing them building thousands more.
Typical climate crank material.
And actually real scientists aren't worried about oil. They're worried about coal. And gas, with its higher hydrogen content, is even less of a concern than oil. At this point let's just try to prevent the worst before we have a solution in hand.

It follows from simple economics that it you shut down one producer, competing producers benefit. So of course natural gas producers like seeing coal fired power plants shut down.

I normally reject all conspiracy theories out of hand, but the way things have been going, some of them are starting to seem more and more plausible.
As the conventional wisdom says, "follow the money."

And of course, with an administration that has been demonstrably prone to this sort of stuff, why would anyone get the idea that they might be influenced by their connections?
