They were growing tomato plants and squash.

It is amazing what is illegal these days.

Did I mention it was a SWAT raid? And that now it is a lawsuit.
The lawsuit filed Thursday asks the court to order the release of the records. The information revealed could be used in a federal civil rights lawsuit.

“You can’t send out the SWAT team because people are trying to grow tomatoes in their basement,” Robert Harte told The Star.

Cheryl Pilate respresents the couple, who met while both worked for the CIA and, according to Adlynn Harte, had top-secret security clearances.

“This was an egregious overreach, and there was no basis for the search,” Pilate said. “These are highly educated and very patriotic people. They feel very strongly about it.”
And you know what is funniest? The police were celebrating Hitler's Birthday - April 20th.

I guess this could be posted in the 'uniforms getting darker' thread too as per recent tendencies to post the same material in multiple threads.

Government gangs run amok.

Well that is amusing. He hates the TSA but is perfectly fine with the depredations of the Drug War Nazis.

I guess it falls under the rubric - "I favor smaller government except for...."

Obviously you don't appreaciate the sinister threat posed to society your government was trying to protect from these rogue agents.

Well that is nothing. I have heard the avocados are marching. Do you have any idea of how many divisions they can put in the field? Resistance is futile.

Yes, Dept. of Agriculture wanted a more aggressive tasting tomato, unfortuneately the word tasting got left out off the research request, SWAT had to be called in to deal with it.

You know, if people want these things to stop, SWATing family members of public officials or predominant members of society would be an interesting tactic. Get enough of it happening and something will change.

You'd think ex-CIA people would definitely be the wrong people to be swatting with.

If they can SWAT a judge they can SWAT 'ex'-CIA. Just government gangs going amok, the prime reason for 2nd amendment.

Once the package arrived at the house, a SWAT team raided and held the mayor and his mother-in-law at gunpoint, and shot and killed his two Labrador retrievers, one while it attempted to run away.

The event gained national and international media attention. While the Calvos were cleared of wrongdoing, the police were accused by the Calvos and civil rights groups of lacking a proper search warrant, excessive force, and failure to conduct a proper background investigation of the home being raided. Despite the criticisms, no action has been taken against the officers or their respective police departments. In August 2010, Sheriff Jackson stated that "we'd do it again. Tonight."

=====

Well it was OK they were looking for alcohol drinkers. The wreckers of civilization. Ooops. I'm off by 80+ years.

Well maybe it was Jews. The wreckers of civilization. Ooops. Wrong country. And I'm off by 70+ years.

OK. I figured it out. Pot smokers. The wreckers of civilization. And we have proof. Well not about these particular people. They were innocent.

Well there I go again. Off on another of my crazy rants. Defending the indefensible.
