Republicans are in very big trouble if that book is now being taught.

Now that is funny. I can point to thousands if not hundreds of thousands of "Text Books" written that have never seen the real light of day in a classroom. They are written all the time.
Some are even intentional trash written by rabid believers of "Publish or Perish". They would rather add trash titles to their names than nothing at all. One relevant early book (or none) and then a string of nonsens to pad the "Published List".
I am sure your book is flooding the halls of academia as we speak of it. Not.

The book has been out 13 years now. Amazon never had it on their "textbook" list before. Although I admit I only check every couple of years. Usually in conjunction with a post. I first wrote it up for a local paper in 1999.ladajo wrote:Now that is funny. The holocaust analogy is taken up in the film "…The House I Live In" and the maker of the film says he got the idea from the "Drug Warriors" book.
The film appears to be doing well. It is shown to the public (premier in October), before judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, etc. One of the judges in the film - Bennett - did an op ed in the last few months. His rebuke of the drug war was stinging.
Even the people involved in the Drug War are getting sick of it.

Watch and wait. This will hurt the Republicans very badly. And instead of trying to figure out what a post prohibition regime should look like the Right is doubling down.
You can see it coming. You know what the end will be. And you can't quit. The perfect definition of an addict. Which tells me that Prohibition fulfills some very deep seated need.
Funny thing is that Jesus excoriated people with similar needs. And yet our "Christian" Right in America fails to notice. Too funny.

BTW if you want to defend against the book you ought to read it. Fat chance of that, eh?
It is fun watching a political Party commit suicide over a principle antithetical to their general stance on issues - "smaller government". Ah. Well. Maybe in 10 or 20 years when prohibition is over Republicans can get back to their central issue - economics. If it isn't too late.

CBS featured the film in this news report 8 minutes - so they gave it quite a bit of air time:

Well you may get interested when Democrats start beating the Rs with it. Or not.ladajo wrote:Yup. Fat Chance.
I have real books to read.
BTW the author's previous book (which I have read) was "Nazi Justiz". It was a study of how the Nazi justice system evolved from 1933 to 1945.

But I take your point. You are rather an incurious person when it comes to what you KNOW.
You can take some comfort in the fact that most humans are like that. Max Planck remarked on that. No need to repeat it.
The left takes advantage of that. They go after the youth. And the Right has zero counter strategy. Well they complain a lot. You can also take further comfort in the fact that with the failing of prohibition the left will be getting the majority of the kids for the next 20 years. The Right is SO clever. They have no short term or long term strategy. Well they pout a lot. If you can call that a strategy.
