You could change the title of every opinion piece about every subject ever to "Why doing X is good for Cute Fluffy Bunnies" or "Why doing X will result in Candiru in our underpants." The truth is a bit more nuanced in general.

They weren't really predictions. They were wishful thinking disguised as predictions. Obviously increased crime is what they WANTED to happen, so as to prove themselves correct.
