Does anybody really believe that just because you use buzzwords for something ugly that you are fooling anybody? My former employer, Perkin Elmer, laid off a bucnh of people yesterday, including me. Calling it restructuring doesn't hide the truth tha the company must be in trouble. The stupid thing is that I was highly involved in the latest new mass spectrometer project. Basically I have almost five years invested in mass spectrometer development and they flushed that investment down the toilet with me. If anybody needs a vacuum or mass spec engineer, let me know

Sorry to hear about your job, man! I cant remember where, but I am pretty sure I read a job post for a mass spec engineer somewhere... Tri Alpha, maybe? I am pretty sure it was one of the fusion research labs.

I've already started to get the jobshops calling me and I haven't had time to update my resume yet. I would like to get into the fusion biz though, so I will check it out.

I couldn't even find a webpage for tri alpha.. That outfit is sort of weird.

The comments are, interesting, and seem to be right on target.

Been there, it sucks. Hope you and your fellow ex staffers share list of emails/phone numbers. Sometimes when one guy gets on at a new place they ask if they know more good people to recruit.
