Tired Of Being Collateral Damage

Post by MSimon »

From: http://classicalvalues.com/2012/06/read-the-comments/

Indiana has passed a law (signed by a Republican Governor) that makes it legal to shoot government officials who unlawfully enter people’s homes. This has created a firestorm and the storm is definitely not in favor of government officials.
And you know what? This is leading to the further unpopularity of Drug Prohibition. Ordinary citizens, guilty of nothing, are tired of being real or potential collateral damage.
Read the comments at the articles linked. I have never seen that level of vituperation from other than the lower classes before. It is a sea change.

So gun ownership is lawful, one level of government encourages police to storm the homes of armed citizens, and another makes it legal to shoot them when they do? Isn't this a case of the government promoting gun violence.

The police have few friends for business as usual.

If the one-sidedness is new, it has been true for a decade or more that many on the rights see the police as willing to enforce any law, no matter how wrong it is. The police have been seen by many on the right for a very long time as just one of leviathan's claws to be trimmed.

The proportion seen is new. It used to be halfsies or so. Now in these comment threads, it is 1% or so in favor of the police.

Jack got his arze handed to him didn't he? LULZ. That has got to burn.

More than a few folks in the comments connect it with the drug war. And the SWATization of police to prosecute that war.
