Really need some other science forums. Whipped this up today, needs a bit of work though, advice is welcome.

Couple of suggestions.
1) Record your audio separately, and do at least two takes of each bit, so you can splice it together to remove pauses or swap out bits you don't like with those you do.
2) Do the recording when you are fresh/rested, and in a good mood. You sounded tired, probably because you'd been working on the video for a while at that point.

It has a noticeable affect on how listeners "hear" your message. This kind of thing is something I've heard about and personally experienced over my 15 years in tech support: if you sound happy/confident/knowledgeable your listener is more likely to believe you are competent and knowledgeable.
And I like your thinking on the way to do the machines.

Myself I think human-operated should still be an option, however, local tele-operation is definitely workable with what you propose.

The idea is to build most of the base, so the crew, when they arrive, will have to spend minimal time living in temporary quarters while the base is finished. They can also keep running if the base has to be left unoccupied for whatever reason, maintaining stockpiles of important stuff. You might be able to fit a seat on some, but the benefits of such would be dubious. Bigger, better machines would eventually be build in situ.
It was a little late when I made it, but some of it might be my voice--I mumble a little naturally, and never got rid of it, or trying to talk fast and blurring things together. I'll try again, nice thing about Windows Movie Maker is that it allows that--I can just record another soundtrack and put it on. I'd already done like three takes of each slide.
