From the article it sounds like a legit operation. The problem is when the money trail leads to a US government intelligence organization, the kind who say the drug money is used for intelligence gathering, and you can't investigate to confirm because its all classified.

Yes it is legit. Sort of. You will note that some of the agents formerly involved said the some of the money got away from them. They didn't quite say how much. And despite this effort the drugs keep flowing.
