Hmm, wonder how that affects zero point energy and other speculative devices that make use of this.
Either way, this is certainly interesting.

Other experiments in past years have discovered other aspects of the effect. The energy manifests. But it is quite close to the noise level.

It would be interesting if photons could arise by this or other means in empty space,(other than adjacent to a black hole).

I have a fuzzy memory of reading about some experiment where the Casimir effect was used to extract energy, as aluminum foil sheets merged into a solid block of aluminum. Or maybe it was in Analog Science Fiction/Science Fact, not sure anymore.

I think there are some people trying to make this work...
It would require a type of nano manufacturing that we currently cant do on a large enough scale, from what I understand.

Cashmere effect, huh? :) Creating money from an empty credit card substrate maybe?

I am not sure about the aluminum, but you could be thinking of Jovion's device. The idea is to use standard lithography techniques to create sheets with microscopic channels in them and then stack the sheets to form a cube. I believe it's been discussed on this forum repeatedly.

That's similar, but I think I might have read about it in a Dr. R. Forward science fact article in Analog, decades ago. Maybe I'm confusing it with another article.
