I bid you all Happy New Year!

We have 2011 coming up now, and we should be in anticipation of real developments.

We've got Polywell's "results in...[by April]". We've got GIT's favourites, M-E and hydrinos, running at full gallop. We've even got ITER funding to pass through various stages and NIF promising real fusion power experiments. And then there are my own modest experiments that must be completed by the end of the year [as I run out of lab space then] that some of you have already, kindly, noted to have already been ground-breaking.

So, 2011 is the year when we shall see which folks walk-the-walk, and which ones merely talk-the-talk.

2011... will this be a memorable year, or another damp squib of non-events?

So I have been meaning to ask for some time, everytime you say GIT, are you meaning as in Bloody Great?

In any event, Happy New Year to all, and here's to four months of patience.

This could be a very interesting year indeed, and I for one hope it is less 'qualified results' and more 'decisive' in nature.

I also wish everyone a happy new year!
Chris, dont forget to mention the Focus Fusion guys, who have also promised more results for this year.
I am also looking foreward to seeing what the Helion and Tri Alpha guys will be releasing. Maybe we will even hear something new from General Fusion (they have been awefully quiet lately)?
Anyway, lots going on. I cant wait to see more results. I LOVE RESULTS!
:)

Yes, thanks for the reminder, and definitely eyes on focus fusion and their 'hockey stick' curve of neutron rates. Sorry. Forgot them momentarily.

I suspect helion, try-alpha and general fusion are too far behind the curve that we should be expecting something from them in 2011, but we can all but hope!...

Happy New Year!

I don't think 2010 was too bad, but I have to echo Chris's wish for real developments in 2011.

Among the developments I'm looking forward to are:

*Famulus getting his Polywell(s) up and running, testing, and sharing his results publicly. Maybe further Polywell results from the University of Sydney as well.

*Continuing updates from LPP, particularly the move to gases heavier than deuterium, and confirmation (or not) of Lerner's ideas about the magnetic field effect in the plasma focus.

*A substantial update from EMC2 not too long after the WB-8.0 phase ends in April. (Here's hoping.)

*And *crosses fingers* the go-ahead for WB-8.1

I don't know much about what Tri Alpha, MSNW/Helion, and General Fusion are up to, but I wouldn't mind hearing results from them as well. Or from any other "dark horse".

And if NIF announces the achievement of scientific breakeven by vaporizing gold capsules with a massive laser array, I shall congratulate them, even if I would prefer that someone else get there ahead of them.

I would absolutely crack up if NIF found out they had to use large amounts of a precious metal in order to achieve breakeven. oops. Not so cheap after all.
