Christmas is set at Dec 25 to steal the thunder from a pagan winter celebration, and Jan 1 is the New Year because the Roman priests would not let Julius Caesar have the more logical spring solstice (still celebrated as the Persian New Year).
But the break provides a nice opportunity to celebrate St. Asimov's day, Isaac Asimov's Birthday, Jan 2.
I celebrated by completing Design Verification Tests and a few last minute Engineering Change Orders on my solar System (solar heating system) and leaving it to run by itself for its first Winter Trial.
