I vote to delete that 44 [and counting] page abomination of a thread in 'news' called 'Room temperature superconductivity'.

It is wasteful bandwidth and the main protagonist has no apparent capacity to take even good advice of those whom he agrees with, let alone those he doesn't!

It is a self-indulgent, self-promoting morass of NON-NEWS.

It is going to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on if someone doesn't pull the damned plug on it. I'm fed up seeing it at the top of the 'news' list for the last freaking 7 months!!!. I only put my 2 pennyworth in to see if I could stop the bloomin' thing.

Vote to request moderators delete it.

Bandwidth wasted only if you open it.

Chris, just ignore it, honestly. Half the updates in there are you bickering in that thread, that's a lot less updates that you have to look at. Your desire to "not have to look at it" doesn't trump the history and information that's in there.

You have a point. I was merely trying to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion for all. I keep forgetting and misunderstanding the odd trait in many humans where they resent people wanting to help.

But, yes, my 20 posts in that thread have, in hindsight, stretched the word-count out maybe one extra percent in its total enormous length, and they are only 20 posts of my 1800 total (whereas 6 of your 8 previous posts to date are also in that thread). Gee. Have I really written 1800 posts over 2 years?.... must be time to quit.... but y'all [mostly] are such good sports to debate with, it's just not always clear which are good sports and which aren't, when you stick a new post in someone's thread. Like I say... in hindsight, &c..

It seems you've calmed down between when you started this thread and the last post you added to it. I'm glad to see that.

Having read every post in the 44 pages of "room temperature superconduction" it seems pretty obvious to me that while Prins doesn't have the best interpersonal communication skills, 95% of his outbursts are exactly like yours, Chris ... a direct result of someone posting either implied or outright insults (whether intended or not). If more folks on here would read what they are posting before sending it, and rewording the stuff that could be misinterpreted, everyone would get along a whole lot better. The end result would be more intriguing discussions, and less "OMG, you called me a WHAT?! /picks up toys and looks for the exit"

It should be moved to general.

I agree, a move to general seems appropriate since it can no longer be regarded as news. the rest, as they say, is history.

One thing I'll agree with Chris (if I understood right) is that the News forum should be strictly polywell or fusion news.

I argue. It is true. Whether 95% alike or otherwise, it is the 5% that are direct ad hominem attacks on others that I find so disgusting, and that I think others should also find disgusting.

I might conceivably say 'your idea sounds stupid to me'. This is not a personal insult. If you so strongly associate yourself with your idea then that is your issue, but in that phrase I have referred only to my opinion, and only about a concept which is not a person. Whereas if that is taken to be the same as 'you are stupid', the like of which Prins regularly comes out with, this is a whole different kettle of fish and he has simply lost the plot in thinking that in some way the people debating have become the debate.

Prins is raging at "the machine". It is "the machine's" ideas and perceptions that he has found objectionable because they have shrugged off his ideas. But he doesn't know how to progress this so he is now raging at the people with those ideas and perceptions. This is losing the plot and to misunderstand wherein his issues lie.

In your own words - Any off topic content in the output of Dr Prins, or anyone else in any other scientifically oriented dialog, should automatically filter. Water off a duck's. It's irrelevant and thus inconsequential.

I don't quite understand your point/question. During a discussion on the dissemination of scientific results, Prins called me "a coward ...lower than a snake's asshole". Are you suggesting I should debate this point with respect to its scientific merit, just because it was embedded within [what should have been] a scientific discussion?

Unjustified feeling because your concept-which-is-not-a-person is separate from both Prins' person and Prins' concept of your "CWINAP", and because Prins' snake-ass concept is irrelevant and thus inconsequential to the scientific meat of the topic. And I suspect from very vague memory that it wasn't you explicitly that the snake ass quip (how extremely offensive!!) was aimed at but at your implicit echo of someone calling Prins a snake oil salesman. A turn of phrase which you can't reasonably call diplomatic.

Second thing, minor thing: the criteria - that your effort put into writing your points and rebutments is "thrown back into your face" - for "feeling" upset, that's what you might call irony given your rhetorical methods since shortly after you started using this forum.

Having noted what the administrator says in the "News" forum guidelines, I too would kind of prefer that the news be at least SOMEWHAT Polywell related. Room Temperature Superconductivity sure seems to me to fit that bill.

There is forum software out there that automatically does sub-threading. I wish this one did.
