Spread the word. Greens are getting crazier.

Tends to confirm the worst fears we have about the greens. And it was produced by real greens, it is not a parody designed by others to discredit them. What is most amazing is the political tone deafness that they thought this would advance their cause. Anyone who finds it humorous needs a checkup between the ears.

All those videos prove is that people will post any insanity on the internet. I believe almost nothing that I see cruising around "out there".

It does not make sense to be an extremist about the environment. Nor does it make any sense to be an extremist about your politics, or your religion. It's the extremism itself that is the real evil.

Being an extremist about both politics and religion, and interwining those, is the path multiple countries took in the middle east. The result of that is what we fight today, at enormous cost. It is a clear and present danger, and it is spreading, or we would not have already encountered home-grown terrorists over here.

Back to the environment: on the other hand, dispensing with extremism and just using common sense, it does make sense to be concerned about the effects we are having upon the environment. Why? Because the environment is the life support system on this planet. If we destroy it, we kill ourselves.

There really are enough of us on this planet to be having demonstrable effects. We call it "pollution". Same thing happens when too many rats (or any other critters) are crowded together in too small a cage or box: it gets really dirty in there, really fast. What's so hard to understand about that?

You do not have to be an extremist, or a stereotypical "eco-fascist", to be responsible and worry about things like that. You should worry about how you will clean up the mess when you drill an oil well or dig a coal mine, or many, many other things. Not worrying enough about that, has been a serious problem in the past.

Drill and dig, yes. We have to. Just clean up the mess afterward. Too few did in the past. It's still a problem even today.

It can be carried too far, of course. With all kinds of activities. Happens all the time. Especially in Congress. As I said, extremism is bad.

Before you open a can of paint to do a job at home, you should ask yourself "what if I tip the can over?" and "how am I going to clean up afterward?" So, you put down drop cloths and you either have rags and a suitable solvent handy, or you use a water-based paint. Common sense.

Same process applies to anything else we do.

I see too much extremism and way too little common sense around me in the world today. Very sad. More than a little frightening.
