Yeah I heard about this one.

Why not? The last two governor generals are recycled CBC journalists... and one was also supposedly a French citizen...

America had Ronald Reagan, who was once an actor, why not have Captain Kirk in an "important" position in Canada?

Captain Kirk would become Comander in Chief of the Canadian Military and have the power to dissolve Parliament, meet with foreign diplomats and heads of state, live in a fancy mansion and wear a funny looking uniform.
