The Worst Possible Thing We Could Do

We are in the throes of a secular decline. We need to incentivize new growth, fast. In order for new businesses to grow fast they need advantages including low taxes. The taxes are already a heavy burden on the people who actually produce. As it stands many potential entrepreneurs
are waiting it out. So what does Paul Volker recommend? Big new taxes on production and energy.

That's going to work out real well.

The key for a strong economy is simple, policies that promote Producers enjoying the fruits of their labors. Pretty much the opposite of what the current bunch of thieves in DC are doing.

Between Income, Sales, and VAT, I consider VAT the worst because it is the most opaque. Adding a VAT on top of the current tax code, along with out of control spending, is a perfect storm to return us to late 1970s economic conditions.

I know that. You know that. It's so obvious that kids know that. But the Administration doesn't:
Their programs are going to be disasters:

They get good advice they ignore. Interesting column here from Machine Design, an engineering free magazine(advertiser supported):

This guy said all the right things to the Obama Administration, but they are not listening.
Even Tom Freidman was saying the right things:

it's all over the place

People know it:

The fact is that the Obamaites are not like other Administrations. They will never listen to reason. They are caught up in a cultist ideology that can't deal with alternatives.

Rush is of the opinion that the obamunists are deliberately crashing the economy to facilitate more government takeover. I can't see any evidence inconsistent with that theory. The radical idealog theory is also viable.

They want global government. Making the US one more economically decimated client of the World Bank is necessary to gain the leverage to force the US to give up sovereignty to the UN. Then its a hop skip and a jump to having international troops going door to door confiscating guns to "fight domestic terrorism", along with forcing people at gunpoint to buy government health insurance, mandating energy audits any time you want to change a bulb in your home, ending home schooling, and relocating all rural residents to urban/suburban housing projects so that rural areas can be turned into World Biosphere Reserves (including reintroduction of mountain lion, wolves, grizzlies, etc under the UN's Millenium Project to ensure the disarmed hicks stay in the cities), land held by the UN that will allow the UN to collateralize debt-backed world currency that will replace the dollar.

Why do this? Well firstly, by concentrating the population in a smaller land area, you reduce the overall amount of urban heat island effect and thus reduce global warming. It also takes less resources to maintain a higher population in less land area, and allows for the end of the automobile and reintroduction of trains and other mass transit as the primary mode of transportation (as Europe does today).

Urban populations are also easier to control with police forces, and reintroducing major predators into rural areas in the midwest and east, coincident with disarming the population, makes it much harder for the people to mount an effective resistance to the imposition of social democracy and ending the republican structure of our nation. It also makes it easier for the government to regulate reproduction and impose birth controls.
