Mind Control

psychologists have shown that people respond far more readily to propaganda, otherwise known as advertising, than they are willing to believe:

This is equally applicable to AGW, politics, and media control. And in fact, almost everything done these days.

That's all a lot of fun, but the original link gave data more or less proving that about 20% of people believe a lie, even when they know that the lie has been incontrovertibly proven to be absolutely wrong and impossible. All you need to do is convincingly tell the lie before the counter arguments are put forth. People will believe a lot of things, right or wrong, but they won't change their mind so easily.
Now, admittedly, the research is based on statistical analysis and statistical analysis might be wrong. After all, Quantum Theory is based on the same statistical analysis and no one has actually seen a Quantum so it could be wrong.

But Rattlesnake tastes like chicken so how do you know tis a real quantum, might be a flock of mutant chickens you bagged. Only way to know for sure is to asked the colonel ...
