$7M grant for IEC propulsion research

7M for the facilities, and 3.5M for initial research.
With offices in Raleigh, NC and Danville, VA, AVRC has been involved in advanced aerospace research for some time. The firm is now involved with the Lunar Google X-Prize.

The project derives from research by Dr. George Miley at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This AVRC Fusion Propulsion page has some resources such as this paper: Ultra Maneuverable Space Thruster Using IEC Plasma Jet Technology (pdf).

Too far past my bedtime to digest this right now. X-rays need grazing-incidence mirrors, I thought.

Are these guys working with EMC2 in any way?

Miley and Bussard did some papers together. And the Recent IEC conference at U. Wisconsin hosted by Nebel featured a session by Miley.
